This March Toboggan Jazz Series welcomes recent appointee to the Order of Canada, Alfredo Caxaj with his Latin Jazz Ensemble! Not going somewhere warm this March Break? Stay in London and heat things up with Latin jazz!
When not working passionately year-round for Sunfest World Music & Jazz Summer Festival (which debuted in 1995), Alfredo Caxaj is also well-known as an accomplished musician. For many years he was one of the leaders of London’s own Herencia Latina Salsa Band, which performed at several national and international festivals and with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony; He was also a member of the world fusion group The Antler River Project (which is reuniting for a Jazz By The Bog concert this spring). Currently, he is fronting and playing percussion in a variety of ensembles, including his own self-named Latin Jazz Ensemble.

The Jazz Collective Presents Miles Ahead: The Music of Miles Davis
Miles Davis was a pioneer and an innovator, never satisfied with the status quo. Over his long career, he revolutionized jazz and music with his lyricism and anxious explorations. The Jazz Collective is excited to explore his music, from his early bebop days, to the Birth of the Cool and Kind of Blue, all the way through to electric Miles in the 1970s and the music of Michael Jackson and Cyndi Lauper in the 1980s.
